A portion of the committee met on Sunday afternoon June 8, at 2:00 to judge Farm Family and Merit Awards.
The Annual Meeting/Awards Task Force met on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Chairman Aaron Ferguson called the meeting to order.
Motion by Roegge, second by Vosholler to accept the minutes as presented. Motion carried.
Erin passed out updated programs for Summer Conference. She announced that a speaker for all sessions has been found. A nutrient management roundtable has been added to the Monday morning agenda. Lake County SWCD will be receiving their 50 year award. The award will be presented Tuesday morning at the Soil Stewardship Breakfast.
Other Summer Conference Items Discussed
- Erin is almost positive the parliamentarian will be someone from FFA.
- Auctioneer will be Representative Jim Sacia.
- Phyllis Mace will be in charge of the photo room—it will be on the 2nd floor, in a room with natural lighting. A memo has been sent out on reservations.
- Erin has found a TV at Best Buy for the Tuesday noon giveaway. Best Buy gave the AISWCD a deal on the television. It was priced at $1,799, and Erin was able to purchase it for $1,150. It is a 42”, and will be on display in the Expo area.
- Committee discussed the awards that were judged on Sunday. It was the recommendation of the judging team that only one Merit Award be given. This recommendation was over ruled by the Annual Meeting Task Force with a motion by Roegge, second by Bunting. Motion carried.
- Paper copies of an evaluation will be available at the conference. The evaluation form will also be put on darts for feedback.
- The gift shop can be open during the museum tour, but there is a $250.00 charge. Task force recommended that anyone wishing to could go back to the museum during open hours, since it was so close. Erin will tell the tour guides to mention this.
- Erin has submitted bids for the 2008 and 2009 from all on the list except for the Crowne. This subject will be revisited in September.
- Sales person Erin initially worked with at the hotel has left. She is having a hard time with the logistics of the barbeque. Plan B is to have the Tuesday Barbeque lunch on the Directors Lawn at the fairgrounds.
IDOA Update
Mike indicated that Regional Representatives will be available as moderators, and help with whatever is needed. A letter was sent from Rich Nichols to the Illinois Department of Agriculture asking for monetary help for a speaker. The request was turned down.
