Urban Community & Conservation Focus Area Committee Meeting

Butch Rider called the meeting to order and took roll call.
Don Beisiegel made a motion to approve the minutes second by Butch Rider. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Don Beisiegel second by
Butch Rider to add the following to the agenda:  Under old business give Rich Nichols the approval to sign for the EPA plan, and under new business except the new agenda.

Old Business:

Annual Meeting General Session:
The group would still like to see water quality session on the agenda for Summer Conference. Summer Conference may be cut down a day depending on funding. They may start the conference on Monday at 10:00 a.m.

Water Use Task Force:
Jim stated that he will not be able to attend this meeting.

Protecting Water Quality in Urban Centers (PWQUC)
This program was started to benefit Illinois citizens in highly urbanized areas of the state experiencing rapid development by protecting the water source.
A total of 28 SWCD’s covering 29 counties were eligible for grant money. Chris Davis stated that they have received around 9 grants.
They are good project proposal.
Action Item: Don made a motion to give Rich Nichols and Terry Davis the right to sign the grant, to get it mailed out in a timely matter, second by Butch Rider. Carried: Yes

Urban Award:
Urban Award may have to be put off unto next year 2009. We will come up with a booklet to show sponsors and who donated to the program. The winners would receive a plaque or a flag as an award.

New Business:

Second Annual Legislative Breakfast
This is schedule to take place on April 3, 2008.

Chris Davis stated that we will have a session on urban issues on the docket for Summer Conference.

Don Beisiegel made a motion to adjourn the meeting, second by Butch Rider.
