Chairman John Beckhart called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

Minutes and agenda were approved with a motion by Darrell Roegge, second by Phil Fossler.  Motion carried.

Time and date of the 2009 Annual Meeting/Summer Conference were confirmed.  Stacy reported there is a horseshoe pitching competition at the same time of the conference, and that numbers need to be in to the Hilton by January 26th, 2009.

The task force recommended to have a Marketing session on Monday – “How to run a successful district,” with breakout sessions in the afternoon.  They would also like a session with an update on where we are with the funding (funding task force), and one on “Responsibilities of Directors.”

Awards were discussed.  The following was the recommendation by the task force:

  1. Keep Farm Family
  2. Keep Forestry
  3. Keep Photo and Poster
  4. Drop Outstanding District Director for 2009, re-visit for 2010
  5. Keep Employee
  6. Drop Merit
  7. Keep McKibben
  8. Teacher – Award one only (previously two)

A motion was made by Terry Bogner, seconded by Lee Bunting and passed to give the Legislative Award to Frank Mautino.

Notes on Farm Family – Keep Cindy Young as Master of Ceremonies.  There will be a cash bar before the Farm Family Banquet.  Recommendation to drop Monday Vespers.  There will be an Invocation prior to the Farm Family Banquet.

Auction was discussed – Recommendation of task force to have an auction, ice cream station, and a DJ after the auction.  The auction would be small this year—Land Use Council based, and if anyone wanted to bring anything additional.

There was a suggestion that possibly the Poe’s could cater a boxed lunch instead of the barbeque.
There will be no Expo at the conference this year.

Meeting adjourned at 11:40 am.
