Area Students Recognized as Talented Artists

SPRINGFIELD, IL, July 30, 2007—The Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts (AISWCD) held their 59th Annual Meeting and Illinois Land and Water Resources Conference at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel and Conference Center in Springfield, Illinois and honored local students who won the AISWCD Poster Contest for their age group

The purpose of the AISWCD’s Auxiliary Poster Contest is to recognize students whose artwork reflects their thoughts on soil, water, and related natural resource issues.  Marie Bunting, Auxiliary Representative stated, “The poster contest provides students--kindergarten through twelfth grade--with the opportunity to share their thoughts on this year’s Soil and Water Stewardship Theme, Conservation’s Power.

This year’s Poster Contest winners in the following grade categories are:

Conrad Milton                            Grades K-1                    DeKalb County SWCD

Anneka Carlson                          Grades 2-3                    Livingston County SWCD

Hannah Mangan                         Grades 4-6                    Mason County SWCD

Rachel Wilson                            Grades 7-9                    Whiteside County SWCD

Laura Devine                              Grades 10-12                 DeKalb County SWCD
